Match report: SW United

It was another home game, this time we welcomed SW United to the lakes, where there was one boundary you could defend for 6, the other boundary was a massive 6. Classic Sunday Cricket! The Exiles batted first and there was a few quick wickets, while at the other end, Paul stuck in and a mixture of some good shots and some impressive drops, meant he stayed in and made some vital runs. He was then joined at the crease by Luke who was due a big score and did not disappoint, playing beautifully and with some lovely shots, moving to his second 50 of the year! Some contributions by Josh Pizey,Charlie, and a fine innings late by Leon meant that we reached he total score of 179. While this was not an ideal score, it gave the bowlers a chance. We started our innings with the two Joshes getting us off to a good start bowling very tightly and with Josh Pizey picking up two fine wickets. Another day, it could have been Josh Smith getting multiple wickets. After the two Joshes it was time for the two Arthurs, with both Paul and Charlie coming on to bowl. It continued to stay tight at the start with Charlie picking up three wickets and Paul bowling well. It was a good bowling performance from all but with the SW United batters opening up on a short boundary, we simply did not have enough runs on the board and SW United won by five wickets. It was a good fighting performance by the exiles, against a good team on a tough pitch to play on. A good performance topped by a post drink break down… Player of the Match for this week would be Luke, with a fine 74, getting us a respectable score, and also taking a good catch. A great day for the Vice Captain and a welcome innings to get back to form. We move on to next week for our last away game against Trinity Oxley. Where would look to finish our away run with a win!
